College Athletes
Specific training for specific positions
There are many so-called “combine experts” throughout the country. Everybody promises that you will get faster, jump higher and bench press 225 more times than you’ve ever done in your life. Many of these places are fully capable of capitalizing on those promises. The reality is if you exclusively train to get faster or jump higher, even the most average athlete will improve. The slightest improvement is considered a success by many of these “experts’” standards.
This model of jumping higher and being faster is great…for skill players. Many wide receivers or running backs who have had awful statistical years or even careers, can run a 4.2-forty, and many general managers would sell the farm to draft or sign them. As offensive linemen we don’t have that luxury. There is the rare occasion that guys get signed based on size or workouts. The truth is, as linemen “you are your technique.” Meaning, if your technique is bad, you’re bad. Whatever is put on film is how we are graded and viewed.
Positional drill work
The most important facet of the draft process for linemen is the positional drill work. NFL offensive line coaches want to get close to you and actually see you in your element as a player. The coach wants to look you in your eyes, tell you what to do, then see it done properly. The more comfortable they feel with where you are as a player, mentally and technically, the better it is for you. NFL line coaches enjoy coaching but don’t have the time to babysit. This isn’t a slight to NFL line coaches, it’s the truth. NFL systems are complicated to install and to execute properly. You will ALWAYS be coached on what to do, but not always HOW to do it. The more prepared you look to transition from the college game to the pro, the more valuable you become.
So the question remains, where can offensive linemen go to get quality combine training, technical preparation for all-star games and most importantly to grow as a player? The answer is the L. Bentley O-Line Academy. Here, you will receive high-quality instruction by extremely qualified trainers to enhance your performance in the forty, vertical, broad jump, etc. You will undergo daily positional work from former Pro-Bowl lineman LeCharles Bentley. You will be prepared to run well and excel in testing. You will train better, harder and more functionally than ever before. The knowledge and preparation received will be unsurpassed.
