Football is a game that closely mimics life. There are many intense highs, lows and unexpected occurrences that have to be accounted for - just as life presents. Student-athletes not only need to be prepared physically but more importantly they need to be mentally prepared as this determines individual’s success level. Due to ill-equipped coaching staffs and faulty or poor family structure, many talented youths are unprepared to face many of life’s challenges.

The L. Bentley O-Line Academy’s Sponsored Athlete Program
The mission of O- Line Academy’s Sponsored Athlete Program is to aid in the social growth of underprivileged high school linemen. Being under the guidance of LeCharles Bentley and his staff, these student-athletes will develop into overall better football players. The true measurement of success of the O-Line Academy won’t be revealed in the student-athlete’s performance in the game of football, but in the game of life.

The O-Line Academy is not the answer to alleviating the dilemma millions of underprivileged youth face. We are the answer to giving young athletes the opportunity to better themselves and become better football players. Opportunity and encouragement can separate these youths from being just another statistic or a college graduate. The opportunity to be held accountable academically, and challenged mentally and physically can propel these young athletes to unforeseen heights.

LeCharles Bentley was blessed to be surrounded by people who aided in his growth from a boy into a man. In addition to having tremendous parental influence, several coaches cultivated his growth. Coaches, such as Chuck Kyle, John Cooper and Jim Tressel, all used football as a personal developmental tool. Of course the x’s and o’s of the game were stressed, but that focus was never paramount to character development. Many inner-city schools are not adequately funded in order to equip programs and coaches with proper resources to aid in this development.

How You Can Help
Your commitment to these young men will open the door to opportunity. The O-Line Academy asks for a monetary donation to sponsor six underprivileged student-athletes. Your financial contribution will provide 12 weeks of The O-Line Academy’s Sponsored Athlete Program.

Throughout his career, LeCharles Bentley has committed himself to expecting and demanding. He will not accept anything less from the student-athlete than striving towards that goal. LeCharles will personally provide all academic and physical progress reports to all sponsors, regarding each sponsored athlete. LeCharles will personally visit each high school, bi-weekly, to speak with each athlete’s teacher and or counselor, to asses each athlete’s level of accountability and commitment to excellence. Each sponsor is welcomed and encouraged to attend sessions to meet their sponsored athlete to witness the impact they are having.

This is a tangible opportunity to impact and change the course of young men’s lives. All the money donated from the sponsor is committed to each individual student-athlete. Not a single dollar of your commitment goes to “operational costs” or salaries. The value of your commitment can not be measured in statistics or percentages; this is a 100 percent committed effort to change lives.
